Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Service position for glove compartment lid

Moving to service position
–  Open glove compartment lid -2-.
–  Push limit stops -1- for glove compartment lid -2- upwards -arrows A-.
–  At the same time, open glove compartment lid -2- further -arrow B-. While doing this, carefully pull rack out of damper element.
Moving from service position
–  Close glove compartment lid slowly. While doing this, carefully slide rack of braking element into damper element.
–  Close glove compartment lid further and engage it behind limit stops.
