Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing starter, vehicles with double clutch gearbox (DQ250-6F)

Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
 

Removing and installing starter, vehicles with double clutch gearbox (DQ250-6F)

Torque wrench -V.A.G 1332-
Removing
–  With ignition switched off, disconnect earth cable from battery -A- → Chapter.
Vehicles with air filter housing installed in front of battery
–  Remove air filter housing → Rep. gr.23.
Continued for all vehicles
–  Remove noise insulation → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
 

Removing and installing starter, vehicles with double clutch gearbox (DQ250-6F)

–  If installed, unscrew nut -2- from lower bolt for starter -B--1-.
–  If fitted, remove earth cable -3-.
–  Remove bolt -4- for starter -B--1-.
 

Removing and installing starter, vehicles with double clutch gearbox (DQ250-6F)

–  If fitted, unscrew nut -1- from upper securing bolt of starter -B-.
–  If fitted, remove earth cable -2-.
 

Removing and installing starter, vehicles with double clutch gearbox (DQ250-6F)

–  Disconnect electrical connector -3-.
–  Press off cap -4-.
–  Unscrew nut -5- and remove terminal 30/B+.
–  Remove bolt -1- for starter -B--2-.
–  Remove starter -B--2- upwards.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:
Specified torques
→ Chapter „Assembly overview - starter“
–  Reconnect battery -A- → Chapter.
