| Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331- |

With ignition switched off, disconnect earth cable from
battery -A-
→ Chapter. |
| Vehicles with air filter housing installed in front of
battery |
| – |
Remove air filter housing
→ Rep. gr.23. |
| Continued for all vehicles |
| – |
Remove noise insulation
→ General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66. |

|
| – |
If installed, unscrew nut -2-
from lower bolt for starter -B--1-. |
| – |
If fitted, remove earth cable -3-. |
| – |
Remove bolt -4- for starter -B--1-. |
|
|
|
| – |
If fitted, unscrew nut -1- from
upper securing bolt of starter -B-. |
| – |
If fitted, remove earth cable -2-. |
|
|
|
| – |
Disconnect electrical connector -3-. |
| – |
Unscrew nut -5- and remove
terminal 30/B+. |
| – |
Remove bolt -1- for starter -B--2-. |
| – |
Remove starter -B--2- upwards. |
| Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the
following: |
| → Chapter „Assembly overview - starter“ |
| – |
Reconnect battery -A-
→ Chapter. |
