Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing oil pump

Removing
–  Remove sump (bottom section) → Chapter.
   
–  Unclip cover for oil pump drive sprocket -arrows-.
 

Removing and installing oil pump

–  Remove bolts -arrows-.
–  Guide out oil pump with drive sprocket under drive chain.
Installing
–  Check that dowel sleeves -1, 3- are fitted in oil pump.

–  Fit seal with strainer -2- in oil pump.
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:
–  Turn oil pump drive sprocket by hand to check oil pump for ease of movement.
  Note
Renew sluggish oil pump.
–  Fit oil pump with drive sprocket into drive chain and secure.
–  Install lower part of sump → Chapter.
–  Replenish engine oil and check oil level → Booklet.
