Universal dial gauge bracket -VW 387-

Measuring axial play of camshaft

Dial gauge -VAS 6079-

Procedure

–	Remove camshaft housing → Chapter.

Measuring axial play of camshaft

–	Secure dial gauge -VAS 6079- to camshaft housing with universal dial gauge bracket -VW 387- as shown in illustration.

–	Press camshaft against dial gauge by hand.

–	Set dial gauge to “0”.

–	Press camshaft away from dial gauge and read off value:

Axial clearance:

Wear limit: 0.25 mm.
