| Vehicle diagnostic tester with current probe 100 A -VAS
5051B/7- |
| Intake temperature less than 19° C |
| Coolant temperature less than 80° C |
| Passenger compartment temperature about 20° C |
| Battery voltage greater than 11 V |
| Alternator load not greater than 50 % (terminal DF) |
| Engine speed greater than 450 rpm |
| Turn rotary knob for interior temperature to highest
temperature (on vehicles with Climatronic select highest level). |

Remove left centre console trim in footwell
→ General body repairs, interior; Rep. gr.68. |

Using vehicle diagnostic tester and current probe 100 A -VAS
5051B/7-, measure current draw -arrow-
on earth wire -1- of auxiliary air
heater element -Z35--2-. |
| Low heat output ≈ 30 amps |
| Medium heat output ≈ 60 amps |
| High heat output ≈ 80 amps |

Note
If only the fresh air blower -V2- is defective, remove and
install fresh air blower control unit -J126-
→ Chapter.
