Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Routing and securing lines

Risk of damage to lines
Lines may become damaged by moving or hot components.
–  Route lines in their original positions.
–  Ensure that there is sufficient clearance to moving or hot components.
 
 
Mark lines prior to removal to prevent them from being interchanged and to ensure that they are fitted in their original positions. If necessary, take a photo or make a sketch.
