Special tools and workshop equipment required

Removing

Torque wrench -V.A.G 1783-

Removing and installing sunroof roller blind

–	Remove glass panel → Chapter.

–	If drive is defective, remove glass panel → Chapter.

–	Pull self-adhesive insulation -3- off.

–	Remove bolts -2-.

–	Pull out cover upwards at an angle -arrows-.

–	Remove glass panel → Chapter.

–	Undo screws -3- and remove handle -4-.

–	Remove bolts -5-.

Note

If the sun blind is to be reused, it is vital to ensure that the steel strips are not kinked.
If a steel strip is kinked, a new sun blind has to be fitted.

Removing and installing sunroof roller blind

–	Lift sun blind -1- at rear on right and left -arrow a- and push uniformly to the rear -arrow b- and pull out of the guide rails -3-.

–	Push slider -3- into rib -arrow c- and remove from guide -arrow d-.

–	Remove sun blind -1- from assembly frame.

If required for subsequent work, the pulling rib can be removed from sun blind → Anchor.

Installing

Note

When installing the sun blind, it is vital to ensure that the steel strips are not kinked.
If a steel strip is kinked, a new sun blind has to be fitted.

l	Pulling rib is installed → Anchor.

–	Insert right and left carriers -2- into guide rails -3--arrow a-.

–	Make sure that carriers are in correct position at top -arrow b- and bottom -arrow c- on guide rail.

–	Insert slider -2- into guides -8--arrows a-.

–	Make sure that the sliders are in correct position in relation to guide rails.

–	Tighten bolts -5-.

–	Fit handle -4- and tighten screws -3-.

Specified torques

Handle → Chapter „Assembly overview - sunroof roller blind“

–	Push cover onto assembly frame.

–	Tighten bolts -2-.

–	Attach self-adhesive insulation -3-.

Specified torques

Cover → Chapter „Assembly overview - sliding sunroof“

Removing and installing pulling rib

Removing:

–	Remove glass panel → Chapter.

–	Removing sliding sunroof roller blind → Chapter.

–	Pull slider -2- on left and right out of pulling rib -4--arrows a-.

–	Pull pulling rib off fabric of sliding sunroof roller blind -7--arrow b-.

Installing:

–	Push tensioning wire -5- into sun blind fabric -6-.

–	Push pulling rib -4- onto fabric of sun blind.

–	Push slider -2- with spring -3- into pulling rib.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
