Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing activated charcoal filter

Removing
–  Observe safety instructions → Chapter.
–  Observe rules for cleanliness → Chapter.
–  Remove rear right wheel → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.44.
–  Remove rear right wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
   
–  Release and pull off connector -1-.
–  Pull breather lines -2- and -3- off activated charcoal filter.
 

Removing and installing activated charcoal filter

–  Undo bolt -arrow-.
–  Using a screwdriver, press catch -A- slightly in direction of luggage compartment.
–  Pull activated charcoal filter downwards out of guide bar and remove it.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. In the process, note the following:
Push on breather lines until they engage audibly.
Specified torques
→ Chapter „Assembly overview - activated charcoal filter system“
Wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66
Wheels → Running gear, axles, steering; Rep. gr.44.
