Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331- (5…50 Nm)
Removing
–  Observe safety precautions → Chapter „Safety precautions when handling refrigerants“.
–  Comply with notes → Chapter „Working on refrigerant circuit“.
–  Observe safety precautions when working on the high-voltage system → Chapter „Safety precautions when working on high-voltage system“.
–  Observe safety precautions when working in the vicinity of high-voltage components → Chapter „Safety precautions when working in the vicinity of high-voltage components“.
–  Observe the risk category of the high-voltage system → Rep. gr.00.
Danger to life due to high voltage.There is a risk of severe or fatal injury due to electric shock.The high-voltage system must be de-energised by a suitably qualified technician.
–  Now de-energise the high-voltage system → Rep. gr.93.
–  Remove noise insulation under engine → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
Remove front right wheel housing liner → General body repairs, exterior; Rep. gr.66.
–  If fitted, push noise insulation of electrical air conditioner compressor -V470--5- aside or detach it partly in order to gain access to connectors and bolts.

–  Separate connector -2- from electric air conditioner compressor -V470--5-.
–  Separate high voltage cable -3- from electric air conditioner compressor -V470--5-.
–  Disconnect potential equalisation line -4- from electrical air conditioner compressor -V470--5-.
–  Remove bolts -7-.
–  Remove electrical air conditioner compressor -V470--5-.
Risk of damage to the air conditioner compressor. Refrigerant oil may accumulate in the compression chamber of a removed air conditioner compressor.After installing a new air conditioner compressor or adding new refrigeration oil, give the air conditioner compressor 10 turns by hand before the poly V-belt is fitted.

–  Secure electrical air conditioner compressor -V470--2- to body with suitable material (e.g. welding wire -1-).
Fitting
Installation is carried out in the reverse order. When installing, note the following:
–  Only start vehicle after refrigerant circuit has been assembled.
–  Only start vehicle when refrigerant circuits are charged.
  Note
The contact points of the electrical air conditioner compressor -V470- and the engine must be checked prior to installation.
The contact surfaces must be clean, rust- and grease-free.
Danger to life due to high voltage.There is a risk of severe or fatal injury due to electric shock.The high-voltage system must be brought into operation by a suitably qualified technician.
Specified torque
