Before programming, check that the date and time set in the vehicle are correct  .

The auxiliary heater can be programmed via the Auxiliary heater menu in the infotainment system.

Opening the Auxiliary heater menu

For Climatronic:

Departure time 2
Departure time 3
Operating duration The operating duration sets the running time for the auxiliary heater when the system is switched on with the remote control or the immediate heat button in the air conditioning controls. The operating duration is also used for calculating the air conditioning (manual) departure time. The running time is 10 to 60 minutes and can be set in 10-minute intervals.
Back to the main menu.

Air conditioning (manual): the programmed departure time determines the time at which the auxiliary heater should switch off. The point at which the auxiliary heater begins the heating process depends on the programmed operating period.

Climatronics: the programmed departure time determines the time at which the set temperature should be reached in the vehicle. The point at which the auxiliary heater begins the heating process is determined automatically in relation to the exterior temperature.

Programming check

If a departure time has been activated, the indicator lamp in the immediate heat button  will light up for approximately ten seconds after the ignition is switched off.

WARNING

Never programme the auxiliary heating system so that is switched on and run in unventilated or enclosed spaces. The fumes from the auxiliary heating system contain carbon monoxide, which is an odourless and colourless poisonous gas. Carbon monoxide can cause loss of consciousness and death.

In vehicles with air conditioning (manual), the start time for the auxiliary heater is not determined in relation to the exterior temperature, but solely by the set operating period. Volkswagen recommends programming a longer operating period in the event of extremely low exterior temperatures.
