Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Checking a battery with colour indicator

  WARNING
Danger of injury! Observe warning notices and safety regulations → Chapter!
Carry out procedure in sequence as follows:
1.  Visual check → Chapter
2.  Check the colour indicator, “3-colour”, → Chapter or “2-colour”, → Chapter
  WARNING
It is not permissible to test or charge batteries whose colour indicator is light yellow. Do not slave/jump start the vehicle!
Danger of explosion when checking and charging or slave/jump starting.
These batteries must be renewed.
3.  Battery test with battery tester with printer -VAS 6161- → Chapter.
4.  Depending on the result of the battery test, “perform current draw test” → Chapter.

Carry out procedure in sequence as follows:
1.  Visual check → Chapter
2.  Battery load test with battery tester with printer -VAS 6161- → Chapter
3.  Depending on the result of the battery test, “perform current draw test” → Chapter.
