Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: If there is still refrigerant in the refrigerant circuit

  Drain refrigerant circuit.
–  Remove defective part, purge with compressed air and collect escaping refrigerant oil.
–  A quantity of fresh refrigerant oil equal to the quantity of refrigerant oil that has been blown out (plus 20 cm3 for the evaporator, plus 10 cm3 for the condenser, refrigerant pipes and refrigerant hoses) should be poured into the new component.
–  Renew restrictor. Depending on vehicle
–  Assemble refrigerant circuit, evacuate and charge.
