Open cap -arrow- on coolant
expansion tank. |
| Engine at operating temperature. |
The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is hot. Hot
steam/hot coolant can escape - risk of scalding. Risk of scalding to
skin and body parts.Wear protective gloves.Wear eye protection.Release
pressure by covering cap of coolant expansion tank with a cloth and
opening it carefully. |

Fit cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274 B- with adapter -V.A.G 1274/8-
on coolant expansion tank. |

Using hand pump on tester, build up a pressure of approx.
1.0 bar. |

If this pressure is not maintained, locate and rectify
leaks. |

| Checking pressure relief valve in filler cap |
| – |
Place cooling system tester -V.A.G 1274 B- with adapter -V.A.G 1274/9-
on filler cap. |
| – |
Build up pressure using hand pump of cooling system tester. |
| The pressure relief valve must open at a pressure of
1.6…1.8 bar. |
