  Note
Always renew self-locking nuts.
Always renew corroded nuts and bolts.
Always renew nuts and bolts that have been tightened further by a set angle.

Assembly overview - steering column

1 -  Central pipe of dash panel
2 -  Shear-head bolt
Loosening and tightening → Chapter
3 -  Right bracket
For knee airbag
4 -  Electronic steering column lock control unit -J764-
For vehicles with keyless entry and start system “Keyless Access”
Removing and installing → Chapter
5 -  Bolt
Observe tightening sequence, LHD → Anchor.
Observe tightening sequence, RHD → Anchor.
Renew after removing
20 Nm
6 -  Left bracket
For knee airbag
7 -  Bolt
Renew after removing
20 Nm
8 -  Bolt
Renew after removing
20 Nm +90°
9 -  Steering column
Removing and installing → Chapter
When installing, steering column must be engaged at mounting bracket for central tube for dash panel (assists with installation).
Different versions possible. Refer to → Electronic Parts Catalogue “ETKA”
