Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Uprated shock absorbers and coil springs

Diving or dipping of the rear end between pulling vehicle and trailer can be avoided with the use of uprated shock absorbers and coil springs on the rear axle. These shock absorbers and springs can also be retrofitted in many cases by a Volkswagen workshop, unless of course they were installed ex-factory. For allocation of the shocks and springs refer to → Electronic parts catalogue “ETKA”.
Diving or dipping and trailer snaking can also be avoided with stabilisation aids that can be procured in most European countries via Volkswagen dealerships and also installed by them.
