Volkswagen Golf Owners Manual: Introduction

This chapter contains information on the following subjects:

→ Switching the auxiliary heater on or off

 → Remote control

 → Programming the auxiliary heater

 → Operation

The auxiliary heater is supplied with fuel from the vehicle fuel tank and can be used when the vehicle is in motion or stationary.

The auxiliary heater can be switched on using the immediate heat button in the air conditioning controls, the remote control, or via a preset departure time. The auxiliary heater can be programmed via the auxiliary heater menu in the infotainment system.

In the winter you can switch on the auxiliary heater before starting your journey to clear the windscreen of ice, condensation and a thin layer of snow.

When the outside temperature is high, the auxiliary heater can also be used to ventilate the interior when the engine is switched off.

Additional information and warnings:

DANGER

Swallowing batteries with a diameter of 20 mm or other lithium batteries can result in severe or even fatal injuries within a very short period of time.

WARNING

The fumes from the auxiliary heater contain carbon monoxide which is an odourless and colourless poisonous gas. Carbon monoxide can cause loss of consciousness and death.

WARNING

Parts of the auxiliary heater exhaust system become very hot. This can cause fires.

NOTICE

Do not place any food, medicine or any other heat-sensitive items in front of the vents. Heat-sensitive food, medicine and other items could be either damaged or rendered useless.

After starting the engine with a discharged vehicle battery, after the battery has been changed, or after an emergency start, system settings (time, date, personal convenience settings and programming) may have been changed or deleted. Check and correct the settings as necessary once the vehicle battery has been sufficiently charged.
