Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Ensuring proper assembly temperature for tyres

  Caution
Risk of damage to tyres due to excessive heat.
Never heat tyres with a radiator or hot air blower.
Heat tyres with warm water or warm air (max. 50°C).
The ideal assembly temperature for a tyre is between 15°C and 30°C in the interior of the tyre. The surface temperature of the tyre during the warming up phase is no indication of its internal temperature.
–  One day before assembly, store cold tyres on an isolated surface like a palette, for example. Store the tyres separately so that they adapt quickly to the ambient temperature.
Required time for heating in urgent cases
Tyres with an internal temperature above 0°C: at least 2 h at above 19°C
Tyres with an internal temperature below 0°C: at least 2.5 h at above 19°C
–  Occasionally, dry off condensate water with a cloth.
