Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Stone chip tester -VAS 5102A
Stone chip tester -VAS 5102A- |
The stone chip tester -VAS 5102A- has been developed by VW
AG and allows the user to recognise whether paint damage is the
result of a fault in material or application or whether it has
been caused by excessive mechanical stress, for example stone
chipping or scratching. The test is based on the simulation of
average impact on vehicle paintwork in road traffic of low-mass
bodies, e.g. sand or gravel, travelling at a high velocity. |
Note
The testing procedure is described in detail in the
catalogue "Assessment of Vehicle Paintwork". |
The unit is subject to an annual inspection by the
manufacturer. A charge will be levied for this service. |
